Thank you for 25 years, Ray Turnbull!

15 03 2010

Curling viewers in Canada will know the name Ray Turnbull. A championship curler himself in the 1960s, he’s been a curling analyst for TSN since they started broadcasting the sport in the 1980s.

Since 1989, Turnbull has been teamed up with Vic Rauter and fellow curler Linda Moore as the lead crew for TSN’s curling coverage.

After 25 years behind the microphone, Ray finished calling his last Brier (the Canadian men’s curling championships) with the title game Sunday. He will call the upcoming world championships, after which, at the age of 70, he will call it a career.

His absence will be keenly felt by curling fans. He has helped curling grow in Canada to what has become, for many, a must-watch sport.

On behalf of all curling fans: thank you, Ray Turnbull, for 25 years.
