Wonderful story about surviving and thriving – please share!

I have commented in the past how one of the advantages of social media is the opportunity to meet and get to know some great people. I’d like to take a moment today to single out one such person who has not only been a pleasure to get to know since we met on Twitter earlier this year, but also has a remarkable story to tell.

Arthur (A.J.) Gallant has been through a hell of a lot in his 19 years, and had circumstances had been different, I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to meet him. I’m pleased to say that after a difficult childhood, he’s not only survived, he’s turned things around, has become a youth adviser to those who deal with troubled young people, and is now just days away from going to college to learn to be a journalist.

In today’s Toronto Star, a wonderful feature article describes the challenges A.J. has gone through, and how he’s taken advantage of the second chance he’s been given. Take a look, and feel free to share his story with others:
